Thanks for the article, but I am actually trying to go the other way, first to eliminate as many constraints as possible through rigorous normalization and automation, and then to reduce the "arbitrary" ones to the simplest common categories. From this point of view, a subquery in a constraint is an abject failure, indicating the likelihood that there is some missing normalization or automation.
