There's a wonderful principle from the theory of evolution that says that the more adapted a species is, the less adaptable it is.
I think you get something analogous regarding OS independence, or DBMS independence, or PL independence. There's a trade off between using the best features of X, and not getting locked into X. Received on Sun Oct 24 2004 - 21:53:06 CEST
