This reminds me of a term I used to use. I called it the "hassle to power ratio". This was inspired by the famous "signal to noise" ratio among communications specialists, although I got it backwards.

I debated learning the CODASYL DBMS, but after a quick glance I decided to bypass it. The hassle to power ration was not good enough for me. I waited a few years, and an RDM DML language came to my attention, and its hassle to power ratio was acceptable to me. About two years later, I saw my first RDM DBMS. The hassle factor was a little higher, but the power factor was a lot higher. Received on Sun Oct 24 2004 - 16:08:22 CEST
