By the way, the "set of attributes" that is one of the operands of a projection reminds me strongly of the "space" that defines the domain of a relational variable.

So much so, that I think of "projection" as simply mapping the operand relation from its current space into a different space. This fits nicely with that "projection" means in projective geometry. Received on Tue May 18 2004 - 19:49:51 CEST
