I recognize that this is not in the same league, but I'll give you an unprovoked compliment -- I put a handful of books in my personal curriculum for learning SQL in about '96 and found "Joe Celko's SQL for Smarties" book to be most helpful. Other books seemed to be either syntax or theory and yet I really had a job to get done.

So, count me in the Joe Celko fan club. Smiles. --dawn

P.S. I hope you don't mind that I have also appreciated Date and Pascal's materials and would consider myself a fan of their works too, even that with which I disagree. Their personal styles, however, at least from a distance, leave a bit to be desired. I really dislike the quote of the week and it would be a bummer for me if something stupid that I said (and I do say some stupid things) or something misunderstood or taken out of context were highlighted for ridicule.
