Some of the commercial software packages that burn CDs for you manage a database of "known CDs", with data like title, performer, year, and title of each track.

Sometimes, the SW picks up some kind of signature off the CD, and goes off somewhere on the internet to pick up the data.

My guess is that if you could get one of these CD burning packages to unload CD data for you, you would get what you asked for.
