Date of Birth as an attribute

It strikes me that the connection between attributes and entities (or relationships) is more subject matter dependent than a lot of us like to admit.

For example, "date of birth" is an attribute of a person in a personnel system.

But it's an attribute of a birth, in a birthing center.
