This reminds me of an old thing called "the user's lament". It was a long riff, almost like "Alice's Restaurant", where the refrain came around every now and then, only different, each time:
Refrain 1: "It's not what I said" Refrain 2: "It's not what I meant" Refrain 3: "It's not what I want" Refrain 4: "It's not what I need"
