Normalizing the ER model

Hi,



is it possible to apply the normalization process directly to the ER
model instead of apply it to the relational model?. It seems logical
to me that it should be possible. However, I'm not sure about that due
to the fact that there are interrelations in the relational model that
can lead to several relations in the relational model.
