Yeah, I think it was in 1980 that I discovered something on the net where you could discuss different matters in discussion groups. Later it evolved into usenet.

Though, at the time, usenet was an academic matter and corporate people like AT&T employees couldn't join until about 11 years later.

At the time people had an idea about 'net etiquette' or 'netiquette', and ideas about only stating the necessary.

So, still: The best way to say nothing is to be silent. People out there ask questions in order to have answers, not to be scourged.

I know that this issue pops up every now and then. Unfortunately it seems necessary.
