canonical form for relational calculus

I'm looking for a canonical form for query. The closest paper on the subject I
found is: "P. Kanellakis. Elements of Relational Database Theory" where he
demonstrates that there exists a canonical form for stratified Datalog queries.
I assume that there is extensive research on canonical forms for relational
calculus queries.
