What the closest analog of
x^2-1=0
in relational algebra would be? Does
A MULTIPLY B MULTIPLY C
have any resemblance to power 2? Then,
even though MULTIPLY, UNION/DIFFERENCE, TABLE_DEE and TABLE_DUM seem to be right candidatures, the other primitive operators -- RESTRICT, and PROJECT -- would be left out of the equation.

You probably figured out already, that my bottom line question is if anything like algebraic varieties/ideals theory exists for Relational Algebra.

    Appreciate your input
