Update and Second Call for Participation

VL'2000 is the premier international conference on visual and multimedia languages for creating/understanding software. We hope you will plan to join us at this year's conference, which includes keynote talks by Brad Myers and Tony DeRose, an interactive session on Multimedia Software Engineering by S.-K. Chang, tutorials, satellite workshops, and more.

This is a reminder of the approaching deadlines for discounted rates, as well as an update on the venue and social program.

Venue update:

The name of the conference hotel has been changed from the
Edmond Meany Hotel to the University Tower Hotel. However,
it is still the same hotel, and has the same phone number,
      fax number, etc.

Banquet update:
The conference banquet will be held at Odyssey: The Maritime
Discovery Center overlooking Elliott Bay on Seattle's
waterfront. The Odyssey is an interactive venue illuminating
contemporary trade, fishing and marine environmental issues.
Our conference attendees will have exclusive use of its main
galleries. Through lively, hands-on, interactive demonstrations,
people can discover the latest in commercial fishing technology,
the basics of nautical operations, and the nuts and bolts of a
      working waterfront.

Post-conference outing to Mount Rainier:
We are planning a group trip to Paradise on Mount Rainier on
Friday, September 15, with luxury coach departure from the
conference hotel at 8:00 AM and return scheduled for about 8:00
PM. In addition to time for hiking, glacier viewing or strolls
through meadows of wildflowers, plans include lunch at the
Paradise Inn, which is on the National Register of Historic
      Places.

Social program summary:
Sunday evening, Sept. 10: Welcome reception.
Monday evening, Sept. 11: Reception and interactive posters
session.
Tuesday evening, Sept. 12: Conference banquet at Odyssey, the
Maritime
              Discovery Center.
Friday, Sept. 15: Optional post-conference outing to Mt. Rainier
              and the Paradise Inn.

Important date reminders:
Hotel reservation deadline for the special VL rates: August 9.
Conference registration deadline for the early rates: August 15.
