Unicode Doubt in Oracle

Hi All,
We have a requirement to develop an application using Java and Oracle
8.1.7.0.0 which supports multiple
languages(French,German,Japenies,Chinese etc..). For that i have
created a UTF8 database. Still we are struggling to store and retrieve
the data using java. We are running oracle on Win2000 system.
Here my doubt is apart from creating database in UTF8, is there anything i have to do to store and retrieve the data in any langauge? as we are not using any stored procedures.
Can anyone help me in this?
