Remember that depending on your platform Oracle installs part of itself into directories other than the Oracle home directory such as /etc or /var/opt/oracle for the listener. You will need to account for these as well as rcd.

I would strongly suggest trying this out in advance. Perform the copy, build a database, and run as many tests as possible before going away from the recommended procedure.
