I am setting up a RedHat 9 server that will host Java and PHP web applications that need to talk to a remote Oracle 8 server. Is there a document somewhere that gets me started on this? I can find in the PHP documents where it needs to be compiled with certain flags but other than that those docs are very lacking. Same for Java.
It seems that I need some sort of an Oracle client to connect through but I don't see where this is mentioned. PHP has "native" calls for Oracle but they seem to only refer to a local instance but I have a remote database server.
Thanks for any help.
