Display oracle BLOB in html

I am having problems returning an Oracle BLOB (image) to a html page using the <img src> tag. instead of displaying the actual image from the DB.... it is displaying .... <img src=oracle.sql.BLOB_at_6c08>. do i need to convert the image somehow? thanks.
