In 8i the max row size is 1000 * 4 gigs per row 4 terabytes. (limit of 1,000 columns per table and each column could be a lob which can only be 4 gigs per lob)
That should suffice for most applications. One thing is Oracle != SQLServer. About as different as can be. You can look up some of the differences at www.oracle.asktom.com
