Limitations can be found in the chapter 4 of the "Reference" manual on tahiti.oracle.com. In Oracle 9R2, a table can have 1000 columns, The limitations of each datatype can be found in chapter 2 of the "SQL Reference" manual. For example, a varchar2 can be 4000 bytes long maximum, a char can be 2000 bytes, ...
