Difficult to help with the lack of info you provide (as a starter, which version of Oracle?), but take a look at the import parameter RECALCULATE_STATISTICS (default: 'N'). That might be what you're looking. If you're on 9i, the import parameter "STATISTICS" can be any of 'ALWAYS' (default), 'SAFE', 'RECALCULATE' or 'NONE'.
