Hello,

We seem to be having an issue when refreshing a CONTEXT index. Our platform is Red Hat Linux 7.2, running Oracle 9i R2 on a PIII 1.2GHz 1GB RAM machine. Every so often when we run a CONTEXT index which uses the INSO_FILTER and FILE_DATSTORE options.

When new documents are added, we simply run the ctx.sync_index. Almost every other time the sync_index is run, Oracle seems to hang up. It begins indexing the documents (the number of pending documents decreases), and we can see CPU usage steady around 25% with memory slowly increasing. After a while, the server just cuts out, CPU usage just drops to 0%. If we try to login to oracle using sqlplus locally, it will take the username and password, but after that it just sits (no prompt or anything). dbshut has no affect either.

Can anyone recommend a few things to look at or try that might help us diagnose this issue?

Thanks,

Khalid.
