tnslsnr.exe problem

Hi,
I am running Oracle 9i on a Windows XP Pro box, and tnslsnr.exe keeps crashing. I understand this is not all that unusual, is there a solution for it?
Also, does anyone know what effect this has, I can use the console and look at the different objects. When I tried using SQL *Plus though, I got an error message ORA-12541: TNS: no listener. I restarted TNS but after running one SQL statement TNS died again.
Any help would be appreciated.
