Oracle8i 8.1.7 on HP-UX 11

I have installed the Oracle 8.1.7 client on a HP-UX 11 machine in order to build an application and test it against an Oracle8i 8.1.5 database on a Sun.
My installation finished without any hitches and, by running the netconfig tool, I can connect to the database on the Sun OK.
However, several header files appear to be missing from my client installation - namely, nzt.h, nzerror.h, xa.h and ociextp.h - so that my application will not build.
I read another posting where someone had a similar problem with 8.1.5 on a Sun or Solaris and someone from Oracle told them that it would be OK to use the header from the NT client.
I am wondering if this also holds true for 8.1.7 and NT and HP-UX, or if something has actually gone wrong with my install and I should try installing the client again.
