mrtg database problem

i am customizing the MRTG software for a specific company. the main requiremnt of company is to crete a database for the parameters polled from router so that compant can view it's historical data. in the first phase of customization it stores the polled parameter in a text file.it's format is very similar to the standard log format(http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/logfile.html).
but i have to store it in a oracle/mysql databse.
my question is, how the logfile information will be transformed in to oracle/mysql database? what will be mechanism?
please solve my problem and provide me the relevent link for this.
