Use JSP to get the ORACLE PORTAL username

I need to find out a way to get the username of the person logged into ORACLE portal using JSP. The jsp page runs as a portlet within Oracle Portal.
I've read various documents stating that i need to use the API but can't find anything which shows me how to.
I'd apperciate if someone had some sample code thay could share with me.
