host strings in Oracle 8i

Hi,



I've installed Oracle 8.1.6 on a Win2k system. 
The database name is myDB and the domain of that server is
domainAlpha. The host string that I used to connect to the database is
myDB.domainAlpha.



Later, I installed Oracle client in a different domain named
domainBeta; but I cannot connect to the database using
myDB.domainAlpha. Instead, I have to use myDB.domainBeta as host
string.



Can anyone tell me if this is ok or there are some settings to be
corrected.
