user terminated action message coming when i execute an sql from my vb

Hello,
From my vb program, I have executed a query which will return about
300 fields. after some time i get the message that user termincated
action. I am connected to oracle8.i using ADO. the fields are fetched
from 4 views and a third of these fields are simple calculated
fields(calcualtion of difference). i think I need to tune the
Database, what should i do?
