Copy Command in SQL for Oracle 8 and up obsolete?

Here it says that the Copy command will become obsolete in version 8 and up - is this a fact? And if so, are there other commands i can use?

I dont want to map each field to a variable because if i ever had to add another field, it would be maintenance.
