HELP! Installation of Oracle8i Personal Edition

I tried to install Oracle8i Personal Edition but cannot get past the database selection.
What happens is, as soon as I select the minimal installation option, I press next, and then this ANALYZING DEPENDENCIES bar shows up, and hangs at around 10%, and after that the installation simply shuts down with no error message or anything!

I already have installed the Form and Report builders without a hitch.
