Locally managed tablespaces and big tables

Anyone experienced issues with locally managed tablespaces and big tables,
say over 50 GB?
The environment I'm talking about is Oracle 8.1.7.3 on AIX 4.3.3.
My preferred choice would be to put such a table in a tablespace by itself
using Extent management local and Automatic allocation to minimize
administrative overhead. Would uniform allocation provide significant benefit?
