YOU NEED NOT RECREATE THE PASSWORD FILE AFTER CHANGING THE SYS OR SYSTEM PASSWORD
sys & internal are infact the same and not 2 seperate users. In Oracle9i you dont have internal.
If you change the password for sys, the password will be modified in 2 places, One in the data dictionary (USER$ table) and the other in the Password file.
The same thing happens if you change the password for any user who has been granted either the SYSDBA or SYSOPER privilege. 1) Well you may want to backup the password file after changing the sys password.
But it is not important as you can recreate the password file in case you lost the existing one (Ofcourse you have to regrant SYSDBA or SYSOPER privileges to other users who have been previously granted them).
2) Some DBA's hard code the sys or system password in scripts that they write. Incase you did so, your scripts may not run until you change the password in them Received on Tue Apr 02 2002 - 10:28:29 CEST
