OracleServiceSID does not start database

I have a very frustrating situation on my W2k computer. I have a local
administrator login and a domain network login (which also has admin
privileges). After installing 9i as the domain login I cannot start
the database unless I'm logged in as the local user (even though
Windows security says they're both members of ORA_DBA).



Worse still, even when I am logged in as the local user the service
doesn't start the database. I still have to sqlplus /nolog and
manually start it. At that point I can log off and log in to the
domain and everything's fine.



Has anyone any idea why:



    
  
  1.   The service doesn't start the database.
  
  2.   Why my domain login doesn't have access.
