inserting into lob datatypes

HI ALL
how can we insert into LOB data types. i only have a vague idea that we have to use the package DBMS_LOB for this purpose. but i am not aware of the details about it. one more thing is that what are the steps for operating on lob data types i.e insert, update , delete.
