Oracle 8.0.5 server with 8.1.7 client!

We are looking/contracted to used Oracle 8.0.5 but we can only get the 8.0.5 sever disk from Oracle because it it unsupported. Can we use a 8.1.7 client disk to interact with the 8.0.5 database and if so what issues will we encounter.
