Hi there folks,

For this specific purpose, one should use the Migration
Assisstant for Access in Oracle 8 and once you have successfully converted the .mdb database to Oracle 8, then you can easily convert it into Oracle 7/8i. The only problem which you are going to face is that mdb files in Access 97 are easily converted to Oracle using the Assisstant and all the higher versions of Access are not read by the Migration Assisstant. Simply save the mdb files in Access 97 format and then convert them. If you have Access 2000/2002 , then go into Tools menu and then into Database Utilities submenu which further has the Convert database menu which has the Access 97 file format option. Choose this option and save the mdb file in this format and then run the Migration Assisstant. This will definately work, I have used it several times and the Assisstant itself is very friendly and guides you step by step through the whole conversion process.

Good luck!!
