You need to run catexp7.sql in the Oracle 8(i) database to allow exp from Oracle 7 to run against the Oracle 8)i) database. You CANNOT run imp from 7.3 on a 8i export. You also NOT use imp from 8.0 to imp a 8i export, which is what he wants to accomplish. This is a documented 'feature', if he doesn't want to believe me, he should just RTFM
