When creating a database the speed depends on your hard disks and the processor. When creating a database a lot of packages, procedures must be created and compiled. This takes a lot of processing power. On an windows NT platforms with 1.3GHertz processor and 380 Mb memory the creation takes about 20 minutes. By the way the database on CD can be used for any other database. You can alter the name, create new tablespaces etc. However, you cannot alter the db_block size. When using a bigger db_block size.
