9i installation on linux

Hi all,
I am having a problem installing 9i database on Suse 7.2, uname -a told me i am kernel 2.4.4 and unknown i586 and oracle runInstall is looking at the wrong location (Disk1 has only i686). so I made a link and i got the error "libjava.so cannot be found" something like that. Just wonder if anyone solves that without recompiling the kernel, any input will be great. thanks and Merry Christmas!
