I'm not sure that the software RAID vs. your A1000 hardware raid is the problem.
I would check the Oracle versions and the init.ora configuration file. can you do the command "mkfile 2500m my_large_file" on your software raid filesystems ?
If you can , so probably it is not an operating system issue.
