I'm attempting to install Oracle 8i on my Redhat 7.1 install to become familiar with Oracle. I've done this in the past, but had to reinstall the machine and didn't really spend much time with Oracle. I'd like to go at this again, though, but I want to look before I leap. I remember last time I did this install that there was a problem with the Oracle 8i installer and the Java 1.3.1 JDK. Something about the universal installer looking for 1.2.2 and not finding it. I also remember there being a glibc problem.

So my question is this. Does anyone familiar with installing Oracle on Redhat know what these problems are exactly? And if you do, is there are step-by-step how-to or site out there that describes what exactly one needs to do to get 8i installed on Redhat 7.1?
