Tools for tuning SQL statements

Hi,
As with quite a few database systems, we are faced with the daunting task of tuning the SQL statements to improve performance. If you have any information of automated tools that help tune SQL statements, please do let me know.

One such tool that I have encountered is SQL Expert from Leccotech. I haven't had a chance to evaluate it yet. Any information on this tool would be very helpful.
