Updating to MDAC 2.5 did the trick

Thanks to Bhooshan.

Hi,

I've never worked on this kind of environment. I found the following on metalink.oracle.com which seems a bit close to the problem that you've reported
in comp.databases.oracle. Please see if this helps.

ORA-00911 When using MS ACCESS to link to Oracle Tables.

I am using Microsoft Access 97 (SR-1) to link to Oracle tables
(database is

8.1.6.0.0) to retrieve rows. On some client machines this   works fine. On others, using same Oracle userid, same Oracle ODBC Driver
(Oracle ODBC driver 8.01.72.00), Oracle error
ORA-00911 is received when attempting to retrieve rows from the table.   Is this an MDAC problem?

  Jim,

If your mdac(Microsoft Data Access Components) is prior to 2.5, it could be.
In the odbc administrator, under About, 2.5 or better is version 3.520.4403.2
or better.

  Get it from www.microsoft.com/data/download.
