Publishing reports to Acrobat

I have a curious problem

Publishing reports from Oracle 8.1.7 via Apache on AIX to a PDF document. There appears to be a font alignement issue in the output, eg., where the alignement of right-aligned prompts is not in a vertical line. The prompts sometimes move so far that they bump into the field alongside them.

We think it is down to the font information on the AIX box as generating the same reports from Reports 6i on the client to PDF works fine.

Anyone have any ideas (the font is Times New Roman - but the issue appears to be with all the fonts we have tried).
