One of my clients complained about not being able to connect from Windows NT to the Oracle 8i on Linux. I've checked his Oracle 8.06 client and found out, that there is no listener service.

I've tried to fiddle with Net8 Assistant creating connections - which worked - and listeners - that didn't. I've tried to start up listener by issuing commands like LSNRCTL and LSNRCTL80, but nothing like that seem to exist on the machine.

I've reinstalled the stuff with some crashes inbetween, but to no avail. What the fuck am I doing wrong?
