Oracle install hangs at 80 pct

I am installing Oracle 8.1.6.1 on RH 7.
I installed the compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2.rpm as I read was required.
During the install, when the DB is created, ( at 80%) the install still hangs.
I have years of Oracle experience but I am new to Linux. Any ideas?
