i agree that it is better to have a dba that controls database situation. i come from informix database where creation was possible with java. i only fear that oracle could have some disadvantage if it has constraints that for instance sqlserver has not. i dont want that microsoft controls everything. i think that the decison which enterprise database is created is made by the management, not by application developers and not by dbas. we only can tell them what would be the best and do the job. reason is that only managers and users know what data the enterprise needs. in my opinion at least.
