Yes.
Write your own function in PLSQL in your own schema with the data tables
being used.
create function your_max_function (arguement1 number,arguement2 varchar2)
return number
is
.... local variables here
begin
... logic here
exception
when others then
dbms_output.put_line(substr(sqlerrm,1,100));
end;
Reference them in select your_max_function( argument1,argument2...) from your_table.
