Can't install Oracle 8i on a Pentium 4 system

I'm having trouble installing Oracle 8i Release 3 on my Windows 2000 Pentium 4 system. I suspect it has to do with the JRE 1.1.7 that ships with Oracle.
Sun released the JRE 1.2.2_007 pathc and JRE 1.3 with Pentium 4 support. I suspect the JRE 1.1.7 shiped with Oracle 8i and used to install the OUI has a problem.
