Newbie - remote SQL call

Howdy,
I'm new to Oracle (using v8) and to top it off, we run it on Linux which I
know next to nothing.
Is this possible:
Our company's datawarehouse is on a Teradata box. I need to do a remote
query to bring data back to my Oracle dbase.
In SQL2000 this was straightforward operation. How would I go about doing
it in Oracle?
