OWB Repository Database and Runtime Repository Database

Hi,
For OWB, is that the Repository Database can make use of a normal 8i OLTP database, whilst the Runtime Repository Database has to be a warehouse-type database??
Btw, is anyone know the functions of Repository Database and the Runtime Repository database?
